About Mark

Turning Survival Into Something Bigger

As an award-winning filmmaker, I never expected to become the subject of my own story. After a life-threatening health crisis, an idea emerged for my next film: Life and Near Death of a Bears Fan, a 30 for 30-style documentary that parallels my fight to survive with the Chicago Bears’ 2023 season. It’s a story about belief, resilience, and the lifesaving power of organ donation. Since my recovery, I’ve felt an overwhelming urge to give back and turn this story into something bigger.
